In its preliminary decision, the DOC said it willlevy countervailing duties of 7.05 percent on Vietnam’s products and2.09 percent, 5.76 percent, 11.32 percent and 62.74 percent on thosefrom Thailand, China, India and Malaysia respectively.
In 2012, the five countries shipped 258,000 tonnes of frozen shrimpworth 2.3 billion USD to the US . Many exports from those Asiannations have been subject to different anti-dumping taxes for manyyears.
Indonesia and Ecuador - two other majorshrimp exporters are exempted from duties as the DOC has found noevidence of state subsidies.
The preliminary decisionwas made following an investigation into the recent petitions by shrimpproducers and packagers under the US-based Coalition of Gulf ShrimpIndustries.
The final decision will be made in late September.-VNA
