Thefestival, which takes place from May 24-June 2, attracted theparticipation of 27 poets from South Africa, Vietnam, Haiti,Hungary, Croatia, Rumania, Scotland and the host country –France.
At the event, participant recited their own works inboth mother and French languages with music in the background. Theyshared their viewpoints on the poetry’s vitality and richness.
Addressingthe event, poet Tran Dang Khoa thanked French colleagues for theirtranslation and introduction of his works to readers in France andthe world. He introduced the Vietnamese poetry’s achievements in thepast and at present.
In 1968, a number of Khoa’s poems wastranslated into French by French journalist and poet Madeleine Riffaudand published on the l’Humanite newspaper.
One yearlater, several French and European TV channels screened a film featuringthe miniature world of the Vietnamese poet directed by GerardGuillaume.
In February 2012, the Vietnamese countrysidedescribed by the poet was vividly manifested in 37 paintings by Frenchartist Dominique De Miscault.
The paintings were displayed at an exhibition organised by the Vietnamese Culture Centre in France.-VNA
