Vietnam, Laos plan to mark completion of border marker planting VNTimes

Vietnam and Laos plan to hold a ceremony to mark thecompletion of their land border marker planting in July at the ThanhThuy-Nam On border gate between Vietnam ’s central Nghe An province andLaos ’ Bolikhamsay province.

A proposal for the ceremony wasmade at a meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Joint Committee on Border MarkerPlanting in Hanoi on May 28.

The Vietnamese delegation to themeeting was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son, who is alsoHead of the National Boundary Commission and Chairman of theVietnam-Laos Joint Committee on Border Marker Planting, while the Laodelegation was headed by Bounkeut Sangsomsack , Deputy ForeignMinister, Head of the National Border Committee and Chairman of theLaos-Vietnam Joint Committee on Border Marker Planting.

At themeeting, the two sides reviewed their work since 2008, and expressedtheir pleasure at the completion of upgrading land markers along theVietnam-Laos common border line thanks to efforts of the two governmentsand relevant ministries, sectors and localities.-VNA
