At the opening ceremony held onMay 25 at Thien Duong (Paradise) cave, visitors had the chance to talkwith British cave explorer Howard Limbert and well-known local guide HoKhanh, to learn about exploring the limestone caves in Phong Nha-KeBang National Park .
Visitors also enjoyed traditional songs performed by local ethnic minority groups.
According to Chairman of the QuangBinh provincial People Committee,Nguyen Huu Hoai, the festival will be held twice a year to introduce anew model for tourism that combines cave exploration and scientificresearch on the ecosystems in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
The park marks the 10th anniversary of its recognition as a WorldNatural Heritage Site on geological and geomorphological criteria thismonth.
Earlier, Limbert told local media thathis team had found traces of a collapsed cave in the park which beatsthe record of the world’s largest cave of Son Doong .
The British cave explore also said that his team has found 10 verticalcaves in Xuong valley along Chay river within the national park.-VNA
